ST PETERS TERRACE

Full renovation managed remotely for a busy interstate family

A tired early 2000s rental became a move in ready family home.
The owners were living interstate, time poor, and renovating for the first time.
We managed the renovation end to end, so they could relocate back to Sydney and move straight in.

The Brief

This home was functional enough to rent, but not functional enough to live in. Wear and tear, builder grade finishes, and a layout that didn’t support a growing family.

The clients needed a clear plan and a calm process.

They were interstate, time poor, and didn’t want to manage trades, timelines, selections, or procurement remotely.

Our role: clarity, direction, and full project management from concept to keys.

What we delivered

  • Spatial planning and reconfiguration

  • Builder ready documentation

  • Full custom joinery package across the home

  • Lighting and electrical planning

  • Window treatments with automation

  • Procurement and coordination

  • End to end management for a remote client

Key transformations

The design decisions here were not cosmetic.

They were about making the home work for a growing family, delivered remotely with a clear process.

Kitchen: from cramped to connected

The original kitchen was a U shape with dead corners, limited pantry space, and a one person workflow.

Working within the same footprint, we reconfigured the joinery to improve flow, storage, and the connection to family life.

Key outcomes

  • Reworked to an L shape + island for better movement

  • Deleted dead corners to unlock a full height pantry

  • Improved connection between kitchen and living

  • Island seating that supports breakfast, homework, and everyday routines

Main bathroom: light, layout, and layered function

This bathroom was internal, dark, and the layout didn’t support family routines.

We introduced an Illume skylight and reworked the plan so the space feels brighter, calmer, and far more functional.

Key outcomes

  • Added an Illume skylight to mimic daylight and lift the room

  • Reconfigured layout to allow a 1300mm vanity

  • Chose an offset basin to create a usable styling workspace

  • Planned lighting in layers for depth, calm, and night time use

  • Power planned to suit real routines, not guesswork

Laundry: doubled in size, designed for real storage

Laundry was a major constraint.

We reclaimed underused space from the adjacent room to expand the footprint and design a joinery led solution that works hard for a growing family.

Key outcomes

  • Expanded footprint to allow full height storage

  • Concealed appliances for a calmer visual finish

  • Linen and overflow capacity for seasonal storage, luggage and daily life

  • Work zones designed to reduce clutter and friction

Ensuite: calm upgrade with smarter storage

The ensuite was primarily a cosmetic refresh, resolved with improved storage and detailing so it feels cohesive with the rest of the home.

Key outcomes

  • Added a full length nib shelf for practical shower storage

  • Improved vanity storage and overhead capacity

  • Clean, cohesive detailing across bathrooms

The entry had no meaningful storage and functioned as a dead zone.

We designed full height joinery so every family member has a place for the things that otherwise end up on the floor.

Entry: from dead zone to daily system

Key outcomes

  • Dedicated zones for shoes, bags, uniforms and jackets

  • Tall overhead storage for overflow

  • A system designed for busy school mornings

The result

A cohesive, move in ready family home with better flow, smarter storage, and lighting that supports real routines.

Most importantly, the clients relocated back to Sydney and moved straight in.
No scrambling. No decision fatigue. No managing a renovation from a distance.
